Collaboraters

  • Brittany Young, Founder of B360

Brittany Young is a retired engineer, educator, professor, and Baltimore native; she has programmed nuclear plants, developed medical devices, and planned satellite explorations, but finds the most satisfaction in her roles in education, problem-solving & service to her community. After the incarceration of her minor brother as an adult, she became empowered to create solutions to funnel talent which resulted in B-360.

B-360 is an organization that utilizes dirt bike culture to end the cycle of poverty, disrupt the prison pipeline, and build bridges in communities. Through STEM education, community engagement, workforce pipeline, and events the organization is changing the perception of engineers and dirt bike riders.

  • Dr. Seema D. Iyer is the Senior Director of The Hive at USA for UNHCR, which uses technology and data science to engage Americans and design solutions that support refugees. She began her research career studying urban migration after the collapse of the Former Soviet Union.

A native of Baltimore, Seema honed her data science skills to understand neighborhood change in cities like her hometown. As Director of the Baltimore Neighborhood Indicators Alliance (BNIA), she helped build community-driven data tools and launched Baltimore Data Day to empower residents with neighborhood data. Dr. Iyer collaborated with our class to create infographics to help break down heavy content, from scientific to more visually appealing graphics that tell a story.
